EPA Permits Reclassification of Major Sources

As of January 25, 2018, the EPA has withdrawn its previous policy of “once in always in” with regard to major sources of hazardous air pollutants as outlined in Section 112 of the Clean Air Act. Sources are now allowed to reclassify as “area” sources at any time, so long as the potential emissions of the facility are below the major source thresholds.
