Hurricane Harvey Resulting in Texas Gas Shortages

In the wake of the beginning aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Texas is experiencing gas shortages. Due to flooding, two of the nation’s largest oil refineries have shut down their operations, causing an estimated 20% decrease of the United States’ refining capacity. On Wednesday, QuikTrip announced that it would limit its fuel supply to less than 66% of their North Texas gas locations. QuikTrip plans to strategically locate stations that still have gas and will have the information posted on their website: https://www.quiktrip.com/Gasoline. The EPA has temporarily suspended low-emission/low-volatility requirements on fuel in parts of Texas to aid in the recovery.
